1. Story time

The original

Long Island owes its name to a woman who lived with her husband on Long Island in New York State at the beginning of the 20th century. She liked to help herself at her husband's bar without him noticing. So she poured just a little of all 5 clear ingredients (gin, vodka, tequila, triple sec and rum) into her glass and then topped it up with a squeeze of lemon and cola. When her husband asked for her drink, she could claim that she only drank lemon iced tea.

The slight modification is a real insider tip!

The Ginger Long Island is a slight variation of the original Long Island Iced Tea. This cocktail is also known as Long Island Mint. However, Ginger Long Island has nothing to do with mint. Rather, the recipe is based on ginger ale as a replacement for cola. Even if this cocktail differs from the original, we recommend that everyone give the cocktail a try! The mixture of fresh lemon flavor and the sweet ginger lemonade make the Ginger Long Island a very drinkable cocktail.

2. You need these utensils

Large cocktail glasses:

Since the cocktail is generally one of the cocktail jumbos, you also need a large glass. In the catering industry as well as at home, the Granity glasses with a capacity of 650 ml are best suited for mixing Long Islands. We also use these in our jumbo cocktail boxes .

Jigger for measuring ingredients:

A bar measure with 15 ml and 30 ml is also useful for measuring the correct amount of ingredients.
