1. Story time

The name Margarita comes from Spanish and means daisy - a pretty fitting name when you look at the bright colors coupled with the fresh taste. As early as the 19th century, a cocktail called Daisy was offered in the USA. Translated, this term also means daisy. In addition, the cocktail was mixed with exactly the same ingredients as the classic margarita. So you can assume that the Margarita has its origins in the Daisy cocktail. It is not exactly known whether this originates in the USA or in neighboring Mexico, where Americans liked to get the spirits. But the cocktail only really became known through Esquire magazine, which named the margarita cocktail of the month in the summer of 1953 with the following words:

"She's from Mexico, señores, and she's pretty to look at, exciting and provocative."

Anyone who has tried the Margarita will undoubtedly agree with this description.

2. You need these items for mixing

Even though the margarita is more of a classic cocktail, you can easily mix your margarita at home. We will briefly explain all the bar utensils you need.

two flat plates

So what do plates have to do with cocktails? Maybe you know those fancy salt and sugar rims that can be found on many cocktails and add to the flair of the cocktail. You make this using the plates by putting salt on one and lime juice on the other. Then dip the glasses briefly into both ingredients and your salt rim is ready. The margarita is usually served with a classic salt rim. However, for our own created Christmas cocktail, we opted for a sugar rim to support the sweet notes of this cocktail.

Cocktail shakers and jiggers

The cocktail shaker is important for mixing the drink with ice. This creates the creamy, cloudy consistency of a cocktail. For this you can easily use a stainless steel cocktail shaker, which you can find in our cocktail boxes in addition to the jigger. And what is a jigger? Jiggers are the small measuring cups that bartenders use at every bar to measure the ingredients. This is very important so that you don't accidentally add too much lime juice and the cocktail then contains too much acid.

Margarita glasses

We also use these glasses for our cocktail boxes. They are very special in appearance, but they have this shape for a reason. Due to the wavy shape of the margarita bowl, The salt slides from the salt rim into the hollow of the glass and can no longer interfere with drinking when the glass is lifted.

3. You need these ingredients:

Our cocktail boxes are designed so that you can mix two cocktails in one go. If you only decide on one cocktail, you can simply halve the quantity.

For a cocktail you need these ingredients:

  • 50ml tequila
  • 25 ml Cointreau Triple Sec
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 20 ml vanilla syrup
  • 45 ml vanilla syrup for the edge
  • 100 g sugar for the edge
  • A lime for decoration
  • Ice cubes

These ingredients can also be found in our cocktail box to match the cocktail.
