1. Storytelling
The Long Island Iced Tea owes its name to a woman who lived with her husband on Long Island in New York State at the beginning of the 20th century. She liked to help herself at her husband's bar without him noticing. So she poured just a little of all 5 clear ingredients (gin, vodka, tequila, triple sec and rum) into her glass and then topped it up with a squeeze of lemon and cola. When her husband asked for her drink, she could claim that she only drank lemon iced tea.
2. This is what you need to mix the cocktail
That's right, the Long Island has a lot of ingredients. It is also known as the jumbo cocktail. We stick to the original recipe on which the story of the cocktail is based. This ensures you get the real taste of Long Island Iced Tea.
These utensils are beneficial:
- Jumbo cocktail glasses
- a bar measure
- Straws
- Crushed ice
Since the cocktail is generally one of the cocktail jumbos, you also need a large glass. In the catering industry as well as at home, the Granity glasses from Arcoroc with a capacity of 650 ml are best suited for mixing Long Islands. A bar measure with 15 ml and 30 ml is also useful for measuring the correct amount of ingredients. Long Island is known to be best drunk with crushed ice. Straws are also useful if the cocktail is filled to the brim.
The ingredients for a cocktail:
- 15 ml gin
- 15 ml vodka
- 15ml Cointreau
- 15 ml rum
- 15ml tequila
- 15 ml lemon juice
- Coca-Cola 0.4 l
- a lime
- Crushed ice
3. Instructions and recipe information
Preparation:
First you should buy all the ingredients and put the ice cream in the freezer. Now put all the ingredients in front of you and use the list of ingredients to see if you have everything.
Let's mix the cocktails!
1. First, take your glasses and place them in front of you.
2. Now fill the spirits into your glass.
3. For a fresh taste, add the lemon juice to the glass.
4. Now cut the lime into 2 halves. Cut a thin slice from each half to decorate the cocktail. Squeeze the remaining half over a glass
5. Now take the ice cream out of the compartment and pour enough into the glass until the glass is a little more than half full.
6. Now take the Cola and fill the cocktail up to the brim.
7. Now cut the lime slice and hang it on the edge of the glass. Don't forget the straws!
8. Enjoy yourself and drink the cocktails conscientiously. Long Island has its reputation for a reason. 😉
